I recently received 2 different at home Brazilian Keratin treatments to test out. Brazilian Keratin treatments can be quite costly at the hair salon but recently companies have been coming out with "at home" versions that are a lot more affordable. I actually tried one out years ago while I interned at Latina Magazine.
The two at home treatments I tried were Liquid Keratin and Do It Yourself Brazilian Keratin Treatment. Watch my YouTube video below to see my thoughts on these 2 at home treatments and which I preferred and why.
A little more info on both brands:
- Retails for $49
- Lasts up to 30 days
- Spray Form
- Enough product to do it more than once. (depending on your hair's length and thickness)
- Nice packaging
Liquid Keratin wasn't bad. Spraying was a bit hard at times. And I wish it came with more shampoo & conditioner. I felt like it wasn't enough for a "month". The scent wasn't too strong. My hair was very soft and manageable. Lasted about a month. The only reason I wouldn't do this again is because it is a bit time consuming having to do it every month and I'm not too crazy about the spray form. Maybe if I had a helper it would have been a bit easier?
Do It Yourself Brazilian Keratin Treatment
- Retails for $99
- Lasts up to 3 months
- Cream Form
- Enough Product to use more than once (Depending on your hair length and thickness)
- Nice Packaging
Do It Yourself Brazilian was pretty awesome. For $99 you get a lot of items. Well worth the money. I also love that results last for up to 3 months, which is a big plus! I was so surprised at all the items that the kit came with. All the tools you would need minus a blow dryer and flat iron. I love the size of the products as well, and the scent was pleasant! And the cream form was easier to work with for me,versus the Liquid Keratin version I tried. My hair is nice and soft now. I LOVE it!
I think at home Brazilian Keratin treatments are great! If you have someone to help you out,I would recommend that, just to make the process a bit easier. I always have trouble with the back of my head. As you can see from the video and information above,I preferred the Do It Yourself Brazilian Keratin Treatment over the Liquid Keratin. Both products are awesome, but I feel that the DIY Brazilian is better. You get more bang for your buck since it includes the products and tools needed. Also,I love the longevity of the Do It Yourself Brazilian Keratin Treatment versus the Liquid Keratin.
